An old silver plate tray with a beautiful mosaic design created from vintage Sebring & Canonsburg China. The rim was created from bits of Aichi china made in Occupied Japan.
I'm posting this comment on May 3, 2009, so you may never see it, but couldn't help but notice the center of your tray! I used the same thing on my first tray...pictured on my Flickr Photostream. My Flickr name is Mimi's Mosaics, if you want to see it. S: )
I consider myself a "treasure hunter" by trade. My time is spent at flea markets, antique malls, junk stores - anywhere there may be hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. The next step is a makeover which usually involves paint, new or vintage fabric, & perhaps a bit of mosaic artistry. The final phase is to find a new home for the recreated piece. Sometimes they live with me for awhile before finding their way to my booth!
